HOW TO GROW YOUR VOCABULARY STOCKS
As a Trainer of English Comunication, I met so many Candidates from various sectors like Corporate workers,Management students and various common people with Academic objectives-.
Among most of the them ,I noticed a demotiveted physicological concept about their stock of vocabulary and words .
1.Most of them think themselves to be with shortage of enough vocabulary and words.
2.Many of them are aware of their vocabulary and word stocks, but are not so confident to use them properly.
3.Many of them can recognize the word along with the concept in daily life ,but cannot react properly in time.
MY VIEW POINT -
As a trainer of Natrual English Comunication, I made various experiment with them on this topic and came to a point , that in most of the cases the candidates are facing shortage of confidence. They think that they can not , even after being overall potential . This is a physcological factor.
This people either did not think and practice properly or did not get any proper guide line.
The total problem is based on-
1.Low self confidence
2.Shortage of thinking ability
3.Proper practice and application
PROBABLE WAY TO SOLUTION -
I asked so many candidates to note down 200 words within 30 minutes,majority of them surendered at the very first time,Many of them tried upto 50-70 words and only a few persons asked me about the segment of the words.
I think that this last few persons came to a certain point by asking the segment of the words.
actually this could be the great way to make a familier vocabullary list to boost of the confidence and used them as capital to gather more words and confidence along with the minimum regular practice and application.
WAY TO PRACTICE ---
Suppose you select a word like health.next you may try to make a list of other words where the word health is connected directly.
Example:-
1.Healthcare.
2.Health worker.
3.Health problems.
4.Health checkup.
5.Health progrees.
Now based on the word HEALTH,you now have 5 more words realated to health.Now if you dived this words then you may get more words like care,worker,problem,checkup,system.
Next if you try to make some sentences with those 5 words,you will have to use more words.
Like:-
1.I am carefull about healthcare.
2.My friend is a health worker.
3.I have some health problems.
4.I need a health checkup.
5.I need my health progrees.
(No need to focus on gramer too much-just try to sets some words to make a sense and concept. And if you can not make the sentences - then at least you should try to enlist the words regularly as described here below)
When you started with the word health,you had only one word, but you listed 5 words more and now when you try to make sentences with those five words you got many more words like carefull,about,my,friend,have,some,need etc.
Your first counted words -1.
Your next builtup words- 5.
Your used words;-aporx. 7-10
So now you have the vocabulary of 1+5+7=13
So one word can lead you upto 13 words.It could be 13+7=20 also or more.
so you need to said some basic words and apply them regularely and also make a proper word counting sheet with date in the format like this-
Your first counted words
Your next builtup words
Your used words
Your new collected words
Your known words
Your unknown words
Your familier but excatly unknown words,and etc.
Thus if you can practice for minimum 15 dyas hopefully you will be developed and if you can mentianed the above counting sheet regularly you will be abale to moniter your postion.
AS PER MY OPINION --
Now lets we come to deeper side of this problem -" where many persons feel to be with a very stock of words in Engilsh " .
From my own expoeriences , I got some categorical people who are facing the shortage pf word stock in English .
1) People , who learnt English language in an Academic form - They read numberless books , literatures including the Classicss , appeared in theory based exam and scored high .
2) People from a bit of backward area , where the ongoing global media advertisements in English languages , are not so much displayed . ( There are many people , who rarely watch Tv and use Social media .
The above mentioned categorical people think personally , that thay do not have a good stock of words . They just think it . But in reality , it is never like that . They have the basic sense , knoweldge and nice personality . They really have a suitable word stock and can use it - but they feel a bit of hesitation due to shortage of proper application in real life .
Very easily they can transform their knoweldge , sense and hestitation to an applied real life with ull confidense by changing some basic habits , fully free of cost .
BUT ON THE CONTRARY --
3) People with updated work , even without being so called degree holder , these days are highly connected with applied English language in real life . These people are really talented in real life . Because they have the natural ability to learn and apply from the natural situations. Technically they are in a place , where English is common language of communication . So day by day , with the situation they match themselves . And may be very technically , they may not be aware of the total structure of a particular word , but with their natural insticts , they can use many words as per the situation without any hesitaion .
4) The next categorical people are of them , who has to work with internet . Internet is a good way to know many things . Not so important that each should use the social media and learning app . I konw many people , who do not use social media regularly . They are just busy to work and when the work is done , they come out from internet and do what they like .
But these people get a huge oppurtunity to know more words , concepts and many updates . Because the Internet is now one of the biggest advertismnts for the company's . So may be a person is working in banking sector , or in a school . But when they are using the Internt , they are watching many kinds of advertisements on screen . Now if someone even skip the ad , still the word 'skip ' and the button - give him a basic idea about functional usage of the word 'skip' . Though the learning mode is very passive , but the result is very active and in real life they can explore many things and ideas without any hard effort .
