The way an angelic boy is always a demanding one to his one and only heavenly mother, samely we are to ground since our sence got the point of demand. As During thousands of ages this ground is enriching us, So even in our worst, the crisis never ever kissed on our food - rice like Daily living .
But now is the time when our plate is heading to somewhere far that beyond our grip . so somehow during these days the flavour of the sleepy respect within our mind to the land now is on the way to be derailed.
Some Days ago I was Just in a village, near Bolepur to visit and headed into an Agricultural family where we faced the very best traditional welcome from their end . Talking went on. Surprisingly the farmer asked me for a job in my school for his young and able son. My question was on a very certain point, " when you have all the ways for farming, then why are you heading the able one to a job of so little amount like 7/8 unit of "taka"? He cleared me more in clear word, " these days the agriculture is not anymore good enough for us to live at a minimum Standard . Certainly we had a nice time, when the total system was so well going, but that time is no more ".
It's causality was not easy for him to clear out Very clearly . But the basic point is that was a time when products were in use just within the area, very closed to production area. And rail communication was yet to be introduced then and there. Transportation like bullock curt or boat were not enough to be with the distant market. Side by side financial strategy was also not in a global form. So our basic demand to the land was not so very critical and not so long too. So overall the situation was not so very critical and surely a manageable one . A huge area of non farming land could be in available mode - I, myself experienced the farmer to feel to be extra loaded being gifted the land property - now that very land is not anymore available even with the high rate of amount .
In crisis, the farming families were never hesitant to be deported to somewhere and newer colonization was really a hard task then . But now is the time when the farmers are just capped with land property because of the continuous Uprising price of that very land .
But very contrastingly still the farmer claims the land to not be enough to live. A great factor is ultimately working here. That particular farmar's basic need is not any less now like years back . Products like umbrella, dress, shoe, furniture are knocking at his door - and these are not unavoidable anymore too. And along with it a huge global customers are also at his door. His corps are now being shipped to unknown distant placs . So not only the land is not in available mode anymore, but side by side even after farming on this huge land property, the farmers are still in crisis!
So no more land property in unused mode , product price is in Uprising mode and contrastingly his family cant afford the full stomach and he is panting within a gulfing debt- but why?
Why in the crisis does each one stay on empty storage? Why do they cry till the next season after somehow the very one season's farming goes down?
The answer may be like that when we were less demanding, the supply was also less, but was comparatively enough to live - there was a system and that system is not anymore now- now the demand is higher but the system remained the very same. When the land property was very vast, it’s usage never needed to be repeated . so through the rotational Agricultural system the land could be easily more productive. But now today here is no waste land policy, but very pathetically the agricultural system remained same with no change in view.
Same theory can be effective on the farming related animals like cows, ox etc. When we had a huge unused land, these animals were more healthy with a good food chain system connected with a vast land . But today every inch of our land is almost under farming, so now resources of natural food for those animals are also in crisis. But their demand of food is like the past. So as the land property is loosing It's fertility for over farming , samely the working animals are getting slower and non performing for the shortage of their food and proper nutrition. So very naturally the bio fertiliser from those animals are samely getting lower productive.
Imagine a certain quantity of food and groceries were on distribution for a particular family with particular number of family members. Within a certain period if that supply amount stays very same and on the other side the family members are multi piled - then the present generation cant be healthy like their previous one. They will be skinny and the organic growth will be within only in liver. Then should you ink on your fate or time? Rather its then the time to be highly active on food supply.
The farmer asks about the way that how can it be possible for land to be more productive than the time of ancestors?
This thinking may be right for a farmer as his own trend is to be on ancestor's way. But this cant be our clarification.
These days either the land needs to be more productive or we will have to stay with half stomach and heading towards the end with diseases.
There is certain example that this particular land can be more productive even than our estimation if our intellect and priority can be fully on it through proper channels and people.
Now is the time when agriculture is not any more tagged as a very meritless job, rather now its a subject today, better to say it a very vast subject to work on . so many famous Colleges and institutions are working on it today and the output is coming, that is just not only a good enough one but sometimes beyond our imagination too.
So to be very cleared and pointed on that very particular way which once was well enough to feed within the village, can not be samely well enough to feed the world today . A categorical people may think like, that the particular way to use the product within a limited village area was far better then and should be reactivated as there is no need to way it to the outer world. But being fully distracted from outer world, just being within self with secured food and fun, may not be proper way to live for us on today anymore . Today the one and only way to survive is to be with the entire world. Any nation out of this way, surely will be wayed to be non existing one. We need to focus on all our productions, religions, wisdoms and intellects to be tuned with the entire world. If something is performing Just within us, then actually its fully non performing at all .
Entire world is knocking at our door, " ayomohong vowh "- " অয়মহং ভোঃ" - without responding to it, we would be cursed - and its beyond all our abilities to save our entity . There is no more way before us to heading back towards that left one ancient village culture.
So now is the time to flash on our agriculture with global knowledge.
Now is not the time for the farmer to farm alone anymore , but now is the time for the scholars and scientists too, to be with the farming and farmers with all their efforts . Now is the time when the connectivity just within agricultural tools and land is not enough anymore. It needs to be tuned now with our whole country's intellect, education, and dedication. That’s why I am feeling really very high about the "bhumilakhyi" magazine from Birbhum District. Actually without the strong combination between "lakhyi " and "saraswati " - its may not be working enough to be with the " lakhyi". So I encourage them , who took the initiative for this magazine and I also pray it to be winged to every district of Bangladesh and both our Agricultural and intellectual prosperity to be high again.
